Letter From The CEO: April 2022

To the Solace Community:

Assalamu alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters,

A personal Eid Mubarak to you and your families. I pray you experienced a truly amazing day filled with joy and happiness.

I cannot believe Ramadan left as quickly as it seemed to have arrived. I’m sure I say this every year!

Ramadan is a super busy time at Solace. Aside from our calls to the community to donate so that we can continue to serve revert sisters every year, we always ensure we give back during the month of Ramadan and Eid.

This Ramadan, we held two iftar events – one in Manchester in our new North branch and one in London. It is always an honour to feed revert sisters who often don’t have anyone to break fast with during Ramadan. The feedback we received from both events were heartbreaking and heartwarming. They have created a sense of urgency in the team to provide more in person events for revert sisters. I feel quite excited about this. Do watch this space inshaAllah!

As I write this letter to you, we are preparing to host 145 revert sisters and their children for the annual Solace Eid event. We pray it is a joyous day for all. Ameen. Know, this Eid event, and in fact, everything at Solace, is only possible by Allah’s Permission and your donations. You have a full share in the reward of any benefit that is brought to our beneficiaries.

This month, we sadly received many referrals for support during the month of Ramadan – in our North and London branches. Whilst it is sad that revert sisters are experiencing great difficulty post shahaadah, I am humbled and honoured that Solace exists and they have a confidential person-centred support service they can access for free.

It is free because brothers and sisters like you continue to support Solace so that we can continue to support them.

On that note, I would like to say thank you and jazakamaAllahu khairan to all of our brothers and sisters who donated during the month of Ramadan. We are looking forward to sharing our impact report again with you next year inshaAllah so that you can see how your donations were used to support revert sisters in difficulty. Here is the impact report for 2021.

After Eid, we return to the full swing of things – using your general donations to provide Solace for those who have embraced this beautiful deen.

Do keep an eye out on the new services we’ll be rolling out this year inshaAllah – especially the Solace in Marriage service, the Solace Institute and the Solace in West Africa branch.

I ask Allah to accept your fasting, your prayers and all your good deeds. May He bestow His Mercy on you and count you as one who witnessed laylatul qadr and one who has been forgiven. Ameen.

Till my next writing, inshaAllah.

Your sister,

Aliyah Quadri (Umm Raiyaan)
